The College of Engineering and University Advancement welcomes Mary-Knight “MK” Young as the assistant dean for development for the college, effective April 6, 2020.
A member of the college senior leadership team, Young will serve as chief development officer, overseeing all fundraising, alumni relations, and donor experience activities. She reports dually to Sanjay Raman, dean of engineering, and Matt Carlyon, assistant vice chancellor for constituent programs.
As assistant dean for development, Young is responsible for creating, implementing, and executing a strategic plan designed to increase private support for the College of Engineering, working closely with faculty and staff as well as with central Advancement.
MK Young has 12 years of experience in fundraising and securing major gifts, principal gifts, corporate and foundation relations, and planned gifts. She also has a strong history of cross-campus collaboration, including work with faculty, top leaders, high-level donors, and prospects. She joins UMass Amherst from the University of Pennsylvania Health System where she secured more than $16 million in philanthropy during her last fiscal year—nearly 10 percent of the total funds raised for the University of Pennsylvania Medicine.
