On September 13, 40 newly elected officers from more than 15 student engineering societies attended a Leadership Workshop in the Gunness Engineering Student Center in Marcus Hall. The students learned what it takes to be an effective officer, including various styles of leadership, their roles, the responsibilities, setting goals, and the importance of working collaboratively. The workshop was facilitated by Cheryl Brooks, the Director of Career Planning and Student Development, and Lorraine Robidoux, the Coordinator of Programs and Events and an advisor to the student societies. Graduate student Ogechi Ibe also helped run the workshop.
This is the third year the workshop has been offered to assist students in transitioning to their leadership roles in their student societies. (September 2010)
