Tutoring

There are many tutoring services that are available for all engineering students. Resources include Help Centers in some departments, Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction offered by the Learning Resource Center and group study and tutoring offered by the Diversity Programs Office.  No application is needed for any of these tutoring resources and they are free.

Learning Resource Center, 10th Floor, W.E.B. Du Bois Library

Tutoring at the Learning Resource Center begins on February 3rd.

Sunday – Thursday
1:00 PM to 10:00 PM

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) provides peer tutoring and supplemental instruction (SI). Peer tutors have gone through training to help assist you with homework, assignments, and example problems from class. Peer tutoring at the LRC is done on a drop-in basis, is one-on-one, and is free. All LRC tutoring is located on the 10th floor of the Library.

Check the LRC tutoring schedule for days and times.  This semester, tutoring is available for all required math, chemistry and physics classes and in:

  • Che: 120, 338, 361
  • CEE: 121, 240, 241, 241A, 250, 260, 270, 310, 320, 370, 433, 471
  • ECE: CS 121, ECE 212, 232, 314, 374
  • MIE: 124, 210, 211, 230

Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is informal, peer facilitated review sessions for a particular course.  During SI sessions, students compare notes, discuss readings, develop organizational tools and predict test items. The SI leader is a student who has successfully completed the course. The student SI leader also sits in on course lectures for the current semester.

For the spring 2014 semester, SI is available for:

  • CEE 241
  • CEE 250
  • ChE 120
  • MIE 124
  • MIE 273
  • MIE 354
