Website Management

The Communications Office manages the College of Engineering’s website. Comments and requests regarding webpage content should be sent to Heather Demers and those regarding webpage functionality should be sent to Sarah Harvey.

In addition, each academic department in the College of Engineering has designated liaisons that work with the Engineering Office of Communication and can perform simple website updates using our content management system.

New/Redesigned Websites for Centers and Institutes

The University Relations Online Communications team provides web development and design services, including redesign, adding functionality, data integration, social media, web forms, and custom programming to your website.

Websites for individual faculty, faculty projects, student projects, or student organizations

The College of Engineering Communications Office can assist with selecting a platform and with site set-up questions, however new sites will not be hosted on servers managed by Engineering Computer Services. Here are a few of your options:

Use the Blogs at UMass Amherst service to build a public website that is easy to create and update. You can create a subsidiary NetID (IT Account user name) with whatever username you want, if you’d like it to reflect a research group name. Examples include Hydrosystems research group.

Each IT Account (faculty, staff or student) is allocated 100 MB of file space on the IT Web hosting server ( URLs for Personal Websites are: where username is your NetID (IT Account user name).

Faculty looking to create a course site in Moodle should contact the Instructional Media Lab for assistance.

If you need to set up a new Registered Student Organization (RSO) Web site or obtain the login information for an existing site, contact Melinda Nielsen,, 413-577-2305.
