Alumnus Charles Jacco, who graduated from the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in 2002, has been named by the IT Services Report on its list of Top 25 Cybersecurity IT Executives for 2020. Jacco is a Principal / Partner at KPMG, and currently serves as the Americas Cyber Security Leader, US Cyber Defense Leader, and Global Financial Services Cyber Security Leader. KPMG is a global network of professional firms providing audit, tax, and advisory services.
As the IT Services Report explained, “This year’s awardees were selected based on nominations for their breadth and depth of knowledge in cybersecurity, the effectiveness of their services and solutions, and their demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams. Their expertise spans threat detection, quality assurance, systems monitoring, endpoint security, and many other areas.”
The report added that “This year’s awardees are among the most seasoned leaders who can meet the needs of business owners and executives seeking to protect their companies from future cyber threats.”
The report said that Jacco is a partner at KPMG and the firm’s U.S. and Global Cyber Security Services and Financial Services Industry Lead. According to the report, “He has focused extensively on multiple disciplines of the information security field, including security strategy and governance, security transformation, digital identity, and cyber defense over the last 20 years.”
Previously, Jacco was a managing director with Accenture, where he spent close to 15 years in various roles of increasing responsibility, as the report said.
According to the report. Jacco “has substantial experience leading a variety of complex technology efforts with and on behalf of his clients. His primary industry experience includes capital markets, banking, payments, and insurance clients, but he has served clients in the telecommunications industry as well.”
On its own website KPMG explained that Jacco “has held leadership roles on projects demonstrating the full IT delivery lifecycle, including business-IT strategy, architecture planning, systems integration, custom platform integration, and large-scale security program delivery.”
KPMG added that “Charlie’s technical expertise in the security space is focused on the design and implementation of enterprise security architectures, including identity management products and architectures, data protection solutions, and security infrastructure components. Charlie has significant experience in broader IT domains such as messaging, storage and server architectures, IT operations, network design, architecture planning, and custom systems development.”
In announcing its list of top IT security executives, the IT Services Report explained that “As companies look to digitize their operations, particularly with the increased prevalence of remote work, cybersecurity is more important than ever. These companies and their expert executives provide cutting-edge security solutions and services that protect companies’ data and other assets, allowing them to focus on what they do best.
